Matilda to Open at Cambridge Theatre London | Release Wire

Following 5-star reviews in Stratford-upon-Avon, the RSC?s new musical Matilda will open in London this October and is certain to be a popular show!

Roald Dahl?s classic novel, loved by generations of readers young and old, has been adapted by Dennis Kelly with songs by composer and comedian Tim Minchin, in this ?hilarious? new adaptation from the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Matilda opened at the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, on 9th December 2010, following previews from 9th November, 2011. It ended its scheduled run on 31st January, 2011.

Matilda is a children?s novel by British author Roald Dahl and was published in 1988 with illustrations by Quentin Blake. The story is about Matilda Wormwood, an extraordinary child with ordinary and rather unpleasant parents, who are contemptuous of their daughter?s prodigious talents. Matilda was adapted into a film in 1996, and a musical in 2010.

It was announced in March 2011 that Matilda the Musical would be transferring to London?s West End in the autumn of 2011. Casting details are due to be announced in May 2011.

An?announcement?has?now been made that?the Cambridge Theatre, where Chicago is currently residing WILL be the home for Matilda when it opens in the West End this autumn.

Tickets are likely to go on sale for Matilda this coming weekend.
