ASUS had said it would be coming soon, and it appears owners of that long-named Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 are now on the receiving end of the promised Jelly Bean goodness. According to a kind tipster and other folks from the Xda-Developers forums, an Android 4.1.1 update can currently be found in the usual spot within settings, though there are others reporting to have checked and not being greeted with the same luck -- this, however, is likely due to the rollout being a gradual one. Either way, those who wish to snag the Jelly Bean treats can try and do so now via the familiar "check for update" in your myriad ASUS tablet. So Dish is the latest company interested in building an Internet TV service, as Bloomberg reported last week that it was in talks with various networks about licensing their content and delivering it over-the-top. But while an over-the-top live TV would certainly be a welcome choice among video options, it's unlikely to be as cheap or as competitive as everyone would like it to be. Dish isn't alone in this pursuit: Over the last several years, we've heard about tech companies like Apple and Microsoft being in discussions with media companies to create their own bundled Internet TV services. Both of those companies backed down, reportedly due to the high cost of putting such a service together, as well as fundamental disagreements over how such an offering would be packaged.

Looking for a reviewer and input for original story

I'm currently working on a story, titled "Beyond the Barriers", and though I am tempted to somehow turn into a roleplay story to gather some inspiration and ideas to cure my current frustration and writers block, I'm hesitant due to it having characters designed by a few of my friends and they are major characters to the story itself.

Plus I have trust issues lol I haven't even let my friends read anything but the introduction into the story, I'm worried someone will either A: steal it, or B: tell me its a horrible idea.

Plus none of my friends are big readers like I am, i seriously have a small library goin on in my bedroom and still need more room for all my books... Yeah.. I read alot.

I've actually done ALOT of research for my story and have all the information done all nice and neatly in a notebook, though as I am writing and creating plots/characters I'm constantly adding more notes and doing more research lol... I had to take time off cuz my eyes felt like they were burning.

So I guess essentially I'm looking for someone who is knowledgable in the art of writing (ability to describe characters and or places for example.), my grammer is.. well I think it's non existant but with the help from Microsoft Word, it's not as horrible has it really is. I will attempt to get over my trust issues of sharing my stories with others.

My main frustration with my story is that I lack the ability to describe people and places well and either over do the description or am unable to describe it at all in words. So therefore I'm not happy with it at the current moment and have made myself into a writer's block.

If anyone is interested in helping me out, please continue reading where I have supplied the basic introduction to the story I have written. This was my initial introduction that sparked the idea of actually writing a full story.

The day the world stood still though it was only mere seconds it felt like an eternity to those who survived the catastrophe.

It is said that a ring of white light surrounded the earth and as it passed over time seemingly froze, and following the great ring were gale force winds stronger than any have ever been recorded. Many have speculated that the winds were that of time racing to catch up to balance itself due to the loss of seconds the great ring of light stole. When the truth is those winds were the barriers between worlds crumbling allowing those that have gone unseen, unheard of, and those that were thought to only be myths or fairy tales to appear. Along with those that appeared, new land formations appeared along with new plants and animals that humans had never seen let alone heard of. But if anyone was to think the humans would accept all this so suddenly, they are mistaken. Their first thoughts upon seeing all the changes to earth were to eradicate it. War between the humans and us was inevitable; we were monsters to them, with only a goal to destroy them.

When really we knew of humans all along and accepted them as they are, but could not fully interact with them due to the barrier between us. Sometimes through various cracks in the barrier could we speak to them, while sometimes a hole would allow us to venture into their world? But either was dangerous to both sides, if the whole was repaired before you got back to it, you would have to search for another one. This could take years or even centuries, all because the barrier is unseen on the humans? side. As for speaking to humans, well how do you think they got their ideas for stories, movies, and everything else? From us of course, those who have resided behind the barrier, always unknown and unseen.

Anyways, the war went on until it was realized and agreed upon that war was not going to solve anything. Now not everyone on both sides agreed with this, nor do they accept it even now. That is why we have to be careful and live on our own lands that have come to rest on the humans? earth. Though we do have agreements with the humans and trade goods, work in politics and everything else, it is still sensitive. All it would take is one small group on either side to shift the balance of peace, back into the land of war. A war that would not see an end till one side is destroyed completely.

Smartphone technology acceptable for telemedicine

ScienceDaily (Oct. 1, 2012) ? A new Mayo Clinic study confirms the use of smartphones medical images to evaluate stroke patients in remote locations through telemedicine. The study, the first to test the effectiveness of smartphone teleradiology applications in a real-world telestroke network, was recently published in Stroke, a journal of the American Heart Association.

"Essentially what this means is that telemedicine can fit in our pockets," says Bart Demaerschalk, M.D., professor of Neurology, and medical director of Mayo Clinic Telestroke. "For patients this means access to expertise in a timely fashion when they need it most, no matter what emergency room they may find themselves."

Mayo Clinic was the first medical center in Arizona to do pioneering clinical research to study telemedicine to serve patients with stroke in non-urban settings. Today, Mayo Clinic is the hub in a network of 12 other spoke centers, all but one in Arizona. In telestroke care, the use of telemedicine platforms or robots located in a rural hospital lets a stroke patient be seen in real time by a neurology specialist who typically is working from a desktop or laptop computer in Phoenix. The Mayo Clinic stroke neurologist, whose face appears on a computer screen, consults with emergency room physicians at the rural sites and evaluates the patient.

Patients showing signs of stroke can be examined by the neurologist who can also view scans of the patient's brain to detect possible damage from a hemorrhage or blocked artery. If necessary patients can be administered clot-busting medications within the narrow window of time necessary to minimize permanent injury to the brain. The study compared the quality of medical images using a particular smartphone application to the same types of information and images typically viewed via desktop computers. Mayo Clinic neurologists worked with emergency physicians and radiologists at Yuma Regional Medical Center to compare brain scan images from 53 patients who came to that medical center with stroke.

The scans were reviewed by radiologists in Yuma and a separate adjudication panel of stroke neurologists to determine the level of agreement between these traditional interpretation routes and new images and scans on smartphones interpreted by telestroke doctors. The study shows there was a high level of agreement (92 to 100 percent) among all the reviewers over the most important radiological features.

"Smartphones are ubiquitous, they are everywhere," Dr. Demaerschalk says. "If we can transmit health information securely and simultaneously use the video conferencing capabilities for clinical assessments, we can have telemedicine anywhere, which is essential in a state like Arizona where more than 40 percent of the population doesn't have access to immediate neurologic care."

The study was funded by the Arizona Department of Health Services and the technology and technical assistance was provided by Calgary Scientific, the maker of ResolutionMD. The Mayo Clinic Telestroke Network includes hospitals in Kingman, Flagstaff, Parker, Cottonwood, Show Low, Globe, Yuma, Bisbee, Casa Grande, Tuba City and Phoenix, all in Arizona; and a hospital in St. Joseph, Mo. To date, more than 1,000 emergency consultations have taken place for stroke between Mayo Clinic stroke neurologists and physicians at the spoke centers. Such comprehensive evaluation techniques lead to appropriate life-saving treatment for stroke, and have resulted in significant cost reductions by not requiring ground or air ambulance transfer of the patient to another medical center.
